Calvary Baptist Church in Canton, MI
I’ve enjoyed working on many types of projects with Calvary Baptist Church, located in Canton, MI (just south of downtown Plymouth, MI). I grew up attending Calvary Baptist and completed my education through their affiliated school, Plymouth Christian Academy (PCA). Over the years, I’ve worked with Calvary on many projects, including drone photography and videography, audio engineering and live mixing, and audiovisual system installation.

Campus Drone Photography and Videography
In 2024, I partnered with Calvary to update their campus photography and videography. I brought my DJI Mini 4 Pro drone to the parking lot to capture high-quality overhead photos and videos, pictured below. The fall colors created the perfect back-to-school scene, highlighting their extensive campus, sports fields, and church and school facilities. Calvary used this updated media for their fall promotion, including in church service livestreams online and in-person announcement slides.
One challenge with campus and facility drone media is deciding which angles to capture. Calvary Baptist and PCA share an extensive campus with baseball diamonds, multiple parking lots, two large buildings, a youth ministry barn, and more. I chose to shoot their aerial drone media from multiple angles, showing the entrance (to welcome new visitors) and other views to clearly showcase their property. The Calvary team was easy to work with and I loved capturing this drone media for my childhood church.
Live Event Mixing
I also trained in audio engineering and live mixing at Calvary Baptist, working in the sound booth to help produce Sunday church services for many years. This encouraged me to launch a career in audiovisual engineering, continuing to serve in sound engineering at my new church (Mile City Church in South Lyon, MI) once I moved away from Canton. I learned valuable skills on the Calvary Baptist tech team and gained foundational experience to expand my career.
In addition to mixing live Sunday services, I’ve also partnered with Calvary Baptist and Plymouth Christian Academy to provide live sound engineering for annual high school plays. Their plays are very well done, with talented actors and a great directing team. I’ve loved seeing the shows come to life and have been privileged to work alongside the team, helping to create the atmosphere by mixing the audio for these events.
Audiovisual System Installation and Consulting
When Calvary Baptist has upgraded their sound and lighting systems over the years, I’ve worked on various jobs to install new equipment and help bring their vision to life. I’ve helped to install lights, projectors, televisions, and more to upgrade their systems. Their team members have become close friends of mine and I’ve loved this ongoing relationship in photography, videography, live mixing, and system installation.
